The Lighthouse offers a number of training opportunities and support programmes both in school and as away days. Training is delivered by experienced teaching staff, Experienced leaders in education and Psychology professionals depending on the courses you choose to invest in.

Parenting Courses

Every parent needs a little help from time to time.
This course shares practical advice and tips for positive parenting techniques that work well for children - of all ages. These techniques encourage better behaviour and help parents find out what works for them and their child. The course is also a valuable for services and professionals offering parenting advice to parents. The course consists of 5 2 hour sessions. We run these courses online or in person.

Working with children who have experienced trauma

Due to the increasing recognition of the impact of trauma, practitioners have the opportunity to become trauma informed. It’s cutting edge practice that enables you to achieve outcomes by best meeting the needs of those you support.
Behaviours such as aggression, violence, and self-harm reflecting histories of neglect, abuse and trauma are not only distressing for those being supported but may also leave staff feeling frustrated, helpless and even frightened.
Our Course provides practice models, comprehensive training solutions and effective strategies to prevent behaviour that challenges, de-escalate developing situations and manage crisis more safely.
This course is mapped against the current best practice guidance and is designed for staff in services supporting children or young people whose lives may have been affected by trauma.

This course can be delivered as a full day training or four 2 hour sessions.

School Outreach

School outreach is a partnerships between the school and The Lighthouse. This partnership helps bring the resources of the Lighthouse into the classroom. Not everyone learns in the same way. Our school outreach program offers students different learning pathways that support different learning styles. This diversification improves student outcomes by helping students better understand what they are learning in class. Participation in our outreach programs increases material retention by reinforcing lessons in creative and innovative ways.
